My husband, John and I own and operate Roba Family Farms which is a
first generation family farm in Dalton,
PA. We started our business planting trees in
1984. In 1990 we opened our doors to the
general public to sell our trees. In
1993 we ventured into the pumpkin business strictly as a marketing tool to
promote our trees. We started out as a
small business and have grown each year. We currently farm 100 acres of trees and 35 acres of pumpkins and fall
crops.
I attended
Clarion University of PA and received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Accounting. These days the farm is my
full time job. My responsibilities are
varied, with my primary role as office manager. I am responsible for employee management, training, merchandising, ordering,
advertising, and much more. Throughout
the year I do monthly financial consulting for an engineering firm and in the
winter months when time permits I do tax returns for a local CPA firm.
I became
involved in NAFDMA in 1996 and took my first bus tour in 1999. NAFDMA and its members have been a tremendous
help to us. We attribute the success of
our business to the principles we learned during our NAFDMA tours. I feel this organization is vital to the
future of agriculture. I hope to bring
many years of experience to the Board.
